Emely De Heus Triumphs Over Qualifying Setbacks for Top-20 Finish in EuroCup-3.In her return to the EuroCup-3 series, Emely De Heus showcased her resilience and skill by overcoming early qualifying challenges to secure a commendable fourth top-20 finish. Despite a technical issue that forced her to start from the back of the grid among a strong 26-car field, De Heus steadily advanced, gaining eight positions to finish 17th in Race 1. Having previously competed in rounds at Red Bull Ring and Portimao, De Heus made a strong comeback at her home track in Zandvoort. The Dutch racer navigated chaotic conditions and mixed weather to gather valuable experience in the upgraded Tatuus T318 car. Qualifying sessions were marred by heavy rain and red flags, with De Heus experiencing a mechanical issue that left her starting 25th in Q1. In Q2, she clocked a time of 1:46.562, placing her 24th on the grid. Race 1 began behind the safety car due to a technical glitch with the starting lights. Despite the earlier rain, the track dried out, and De Heus moved up one position on the first lap. A massive crash on lap 3 brought out the red flag, but upon resumption, De Heus capitalized on the deteriorating conditions to climb up the order. As rain began to fall again, she reached 18th place, and after post-race penalties, she was promoted to 17th. In Race 2, held under sunny conditions, De Heus started 25th and gradually fought her way through the field. Despite limited opportunities to advance, she finished 23rd, improving her lap times and gaining valuable track time. De Heus's performance at Zandvoort, amidst challenging conditions and strong competition, underscored her growing confidence and skill. As she prepares for the next EuroCup-3 round at MotorLand Aragón, Spain, she continues to build momentum for her future racing endeavors.
